eh, it's not like blizz has any more or less right to DotA than the private companies who have made money off the concept.

Granted it feels a little bit like wall-mart trying to put the local shops out of business, but still, it's hardly a bad marketing move or stupid of them.

I think the big thing was Blizzard wanted to keep the game as a mod in the WC3 community rather than have the name "DotA"  associated with a company like Valve, where instead of it being a community game, it would be built/maintained by company developers.

Not to mention Icefrog is a fag and the game was much better off when Eul/Guinsoo were working on it.

What I like is that they are willing to try different ideas.  I don't know if they'll all be good ideas but the sub genre hasn't seen much innovation since the introduction to these stand alone games.

I can agree with that. I also found their story compelling.
